Red Wine by Two Hands from McLaren Vale, Australia. Dark black. The nose shows lifted notes of spice, followed by an amalgam of fresh espresso, rich chocolate, dark cherries and freshly roasted almonds. The mouthfeel is long, dense and coating with luscious licorice, mocha, spice and blackberry flavors. With more fruit weight and tannin than previous vintages, this is a lot of fun to drink now but will age nicely.

Red Wine by Goats do Roam from South Africa. An innovative blend of rich spicy Shiraz and a brooding Pinotage, with Mourvedre adding spice and tannin structure. Full bodied, ripe tannins with good length and structure, backed by careful oaking. This wine certainly has the structure and tannin to age for 3 - 5 years.

In Box Glassware Wine Accessory. It just got easier to clean your valuable decanters with metallic mini pellets from Riedel. These tiny stainless steel pellets remove all dirt, residue, sediment and stains from inside the decanter. Just fill the vessel half way up with water, add the pellets, and swish around for about two minutes. That’s it! When you’re done, carefully empty the contents into a mesh strainer, rinse the pellets, dry them, and use them again and again.

Red Wine by Marchesi di Barolo from Piedmont, Italy. One of the great names in Piedmontese winemaking, Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo dates back as far as the 12th century, when the land-owning Falletti family of Piedmont’s Barolo district was granted titles of nobility. Today the estate owns about 100 acres of vineyard in the Langhe, including some of the finest vineyards in the district. The Marchesi di Barolo cellars have been owned since 1929 by the Abbona family, who make their home in the large, yellow-fronted villa overlooking the terra cotta rooftops of the picturesque village of Barolo. Like their Falletti predecessors the Abbonas are committed to conserving the estate’s time-honored reputation. Production Area From prime estate vineyards planted in calcareous, clayey soils on the moderately inclined hillsides of Piedmont’s Barolo district. Grape Varieties 100% Nebbiolo Vinification Following destemming, handpicked grapes are soft-pressed. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures in thermo-conditioned vats. Maceration lasts 10-18 days with racking of the wine only after all sugar content has been converted to alcohol. The wine is aged 2-3 years in a combination of small, new and older, used Slavonian oak casks. The wine is further aged six months in bottle prior to release. It can be cellared for 15-20 years. Color Deep ruby red with orange highlights. Bouquet Intense rose bouquet with scents of licorice and spice. Taste Full-bodied, dry and elegant. Serving Suggestions A perfect complement to red meats and ripe cheeses. Serve at a moderate room temperature.

Red Wine by Valentin Bianchi from Argentina, South America. Fine aromas of sour cherry and cherry stand out from a background of smoked spices. In the mouth, the complexity of French and American oak, and a firm and balanced structure, join together to produce a wine true to the varietal character of the grape. The same cherry flavors first discovered in the nose are found on the palate, and linger through the long, pleasing finish.

White Wine by Hirtzberger from Austria, European. Harvested November 8-10 from the steepest terraces of the Rotes Tor (adjacent to Singerriedel), Hirtzberger’s 2005 Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Rotes Tor smells of sweet pea, citrus, and rhubarb. It comes onto the palate with creamy texture yet loads of juicy fruit and positively shimmering wet stone, salty mineral expression. Like its Federspeiel counterpart, this exhibits great clarity of fruit, even though one can detect accents of honey and brown spice attributable to botrytis. A brothy, rich meld of stone, spice, and fruit pours itself into a long, evocative finish that outdistances all but a handful of other Gruner Veltliner from this vintage. I would be unafraid to stash some of this in my cellar for a decade or more - indeed I would regret not doing so, and while I was at it I would track some bottles of the Federspiel as well. -Wine Advocate
